2k9 has been averted!
A M$ person told me on Twitter this evening that the zunes will basically fix themselves- They will fix themselves, a patch will be released to prevent this from happening again.. Apparently the glitch was caused by the software clock on the Zune 30’s, causing them to freeze up on December 31st.
So, sorry 1984 fans- 2k9 isn’t happening.
